Yellow Postcard Day is Taylor's favorite. It's the day her whole neighborhood gets to pick up their community boxes! What will they get? Who will they see? When the line is so long it stretches around the block, Taylor gets worried. Will there be enough to go around?

Join Taylor and her neighbors this Yellow Postcard Day and celebrate the food, community, and family that make sharing food special.

A Note on Food Insecurity

There is a great shame around food insecurity. In Tennessee, where I live, one in eight children face hunger. In America, one in five do. I was one of those children. While I benefited from free lunch and community boxes, I was filled with humiliation and tried to do everything I could not to be noticed as I accepted help. It’s a confusing and hard concept to grasp while also trying to navigate childhood. Hunger affects these children lifelong. Even as an adult, I still feel the stress of hunger.

I can remember my line vividly. This book is for little Sav and what I wish would have been.

Every child deserves to eat without the weight of the world on their shoulders. Every child deserves the chance to celebrate.
